I'm happiest when a project needs the whole thing.

I’m Destiny Washington, an art director, artist and designer from New York. My work starts with things that are felt before they’re explained, like a sound, a scene or a community, and I give them a form other people can step into:
a music series, a flyer, a brand, a room.

I started Laurice Creative in 2019 and have built brand systems and social strategy for foundations and creators. I’ve art directed at TBWA\Chiat\Day on Nissan, and I’ve been backed by a Black Artist Grant, the Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator Grant, and fellowships with D&AD Shift x Google and MNN. The work I’m proudest of is the work people can feel.

Outside client work I make art, music and media about culture, power and emotional reality.

I take on freelance and contract projects: series, activations, experiential work and brand worlds with a point of view.

How I work

  • I do my best work in short, defined projects with a clear start and a clear finish. I'm quick to get oriented and quick to ship.

  • I believe creatives who find the insight often make the best work: leaving little to get lost between the idea and the page.

  • The best work is created with empathy and culture in mind. In a world where diversity, equity and inclusion are being attacked, I make sure to champion the beauty of human in my creativity.
