The brief
-
Underground music audiences under 40 aren’t finding themselves on television or online.
-
Developed the concept, then hosted, produced and edited every video.
-
22,654 views across five videos as of September 2026. Episode 1 alone: 16,765.
Sound Check, Episode 1: Oi! Revival
Debut: August, 09, 2025
“A show that feels
like the scene it covers.”
Challenge
MNN is the largest public access network in the country, and it is reimagining itself as a production and convening partner for New York culture. Its programming hadn't yet reached underground music communities, and the 18–39 audience that finds those scenes on YouTube and Twitch, not on a cable dial.
Insight
Punk, Oi! and hardcore scenes are built on community, live energy and trust. A show for them has to sound like the scene, not like a network talking about it, and it has to work on TV, YouTube, Twitch and in a room at once.
Idea & System
Over a summer fellowship, I developed the program on my own, with MNN providing the studio, crew and equipment. It mixes live hosting, honest music reviews and scene reporting, in the spirit of Headbangers Ball and TRL. I created the concept and the look and the graphics, then hosted, produced and edited every video, from Episode 1 (August 9) through two guest interviews.
